5 Steps To Calm a Hyper Shih Tzu

5. Look at Yourself

It could be that the dog is actually mirroring your own energy and pent-up feelings. If you are excited, agitated, or even feeling a considerable amount of emotion your dog will pick up on that. Remember, to the dog you are the leader of the pack and how you act will be reflected by the dog. So, being calm, cool, and collected will result in your dog mimicking those feelings as well. Remember, the way you act, the tone of your voice, and the energy you are putting out has an effect on your dog. So, if you are feeling stressed out or agitated you may want to stay away from your dog until you calm down first. At that point, you can approach your dog.
